TNS secures Eurobarometer contract
TNS, the global market insight and information group, has announced that it has successfully - and for the second time - won its frame-work contract with the European Commission and European Parliament to produce its Standard Eurobarometer studies. This agreement will be one of the largest market research contracts ever commissioned and is valued at 65 million euro over four years. TNS won the contract through a competitive pitch against IPSOS, Gallup and Synovate, only four months after it was also awarded the Eurobarometer Qualitative Studies worth 15 million euros over four years. Elections in 2009 showed us, that people have become politically more active in Estonia. At the same time political activity in Europe is falling and also in previous years in Estonia it has been decreasing.
Participation in elections dropped until 2005 while last three elections in Estonia have shown a growing trend.
Estonian media advertising market turnover was down to 586 million EEK in the I half year

Based on TNS Emor Advertising Expenditure monitoring survey AdEx, the media advertising market turnover was almost 318 million EEK in the II quarter, which compared to last year’s same period has dropped 39%.
Voluntary activities keeps people satisfied and positive during hard times

In spite of troubled times in economy almost half (47%) of Estonian population have been engaged in some voluntary activity during last year, at the same time only few are aware that this is considered voluntary activity, shows recent survey ordered by Volunteer Development Estonia. Main activities, where people voluntarily participated, were offering help to other people (50%) and taking part in community work or rescue missions (43%).
